The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) card is an industry standard identification that shows an individual has the necessary knowledge and competence to work as a plant operator within the field of construction.
Launched in 2003, CPCS has issued thousands of cards for an extensive range of plant related courses. These courses are constantly reviewed by the CPCS Management Committee to ensure they react to industry feedback and external factors.
CPCS Industrial Counterbalance Forklift (A18)
This CPCS Industrial Counterbalance Forklift (A16) training course covers the movement of loads and stacking of pallets over varying terrain and environments.
COURSE INFORMATION
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Counterbalance training including the basic construction and components of the machine
- Operator’s handbook, including manufacturer instructions and applicable legislation
- How to load the machine correctly, ensuring load integrity and security
- Travel with the machine in confined areas, in both a loaded and unloaded state. This will include forward and reverse directions and how to set the forklift for various loads
- Safe working parameters
- Loading and unloading procedures, including on and off a transporter
- Placing and retrieving loads from a range of locations, including vehicle beds and trailers
- How to configure the forklift for various situations, including travel
- Pre-use, post-use and running checks
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Learners must have passed the Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years, prior to course start date.
A good understanding of spoken and written English.
ASSESSMENT
A mixture of classroom based teaching and practical exercises, followed by a one day assessment.
CERTIFICATION
Learners will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests, valid for two years.
