COURSE INFORMATION
The EUSR Category 3, 4 & 5 Combined course delivers comprehensive training in the safe installation, inspection, maintenance, and removal of timber, steel, and proprietary support systems used in deep excavations. Designed for those working within the utility and energy sectors, the course equips delegates with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence required to work safely and efficiently with temporary excavation support systems.
The modules covered include:
- Identify the risks and potential hazards associated with excavation work.
- Understand different soil types, ground conditions, and their impact on excavation safety.
- Select appropriate ground retention and support systems for varying site conditions.
- Conduct excavation-specific risk assessments and implement suitable control measures.
- Recognise common excavation hazards and apply effective controls, including the correct use of PPE.
- Safely install, inspect, maintain, and remove timber, steel, and proprietary shoring systems through practical training and assessment.
- Read and interpret temporary works designs and apply them correctly on site.

ASSESSMENT
EUSR assessments are multiple choice and structured so that there is a practical & theory assessment per unit.
CERTIFICATION
Learners will receive an EUSR photo ID card with the qualification stated on the back.
EUSR registration is valid for three years.
